Sacramento hotel transformation latest step in addressing city homelessness

A Natomas area hotel that once catered to business travelers has been transformed into the latest project aimed at addressing the immediate crisis of homelessness and the ongoing need for permanent housing solutions, according to Sacramento Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby. Mini Aerobic Stepper

The Vista Nueva project was set to officially open during an event Thursday morning.

In partnership with Jamboree Housing, this project transformed the previous Staybridge Extended Stay Hotel into new supportive housing for families and others experiencing homelessness.

"We were able to get this work done in roughly three months. These guys did an amazing job," said Marc Mastroianni, Jamboree's General Superintendent.

The transformed four-story hotel includes:

"The supportive housing with services that Jamboree will bring to this hotel conversion will enhance the quality of life for the entire Natomas neighborhood by bringing neighbors from homelessness into housing, " read an online statement from Jamboree Housing. "Along with a permanent home, these residents will have onsite access to trained professionals who can provide services and support ... that will keep them active, stable, and thriving in their local neighborhood."

The primary source of funding is Gov. Newsom's Project Homekey.
